Court halts Belgian hydrogen pipeline over crop concerns

A Flemish administrative court has revoked the environmental permit for a 35km section of Belgium's hydrogen pipeline network, halting the planned construction. The permit, initially granted by the Flemish government, allowed Fluxys to build a pipeline between Zelzate and Kallo, with construction slated to commence in March 2025.

However, fruit growers in the region have raised concerns about potential crop damage, leading to a successful appeal to the Council of Permit Disputes for an emergency suspension of the permit.
