It was time for a new look at Mitrofresh in Maasdijk. The company, which specializes in supplying exotic mushrooms to retail and catering outlets, had its old premises demolished and built a brand new one on the same site. Within six months, the new building was ready, done entirely in-house. "We deliberately chose our own construction partners who took care of various parts of the construction," says Valon Bahtiri, managing director of Mitrofresh.

Expertise
One of these parties was Airclima, responsible for the air conditioning of the new premises. "Airclima has the expertise and is practically around the corner in Aalsmeer. Together with their engineers, we came up with a tailor-made solution. The speed at which they got it done makes us very satisfied," says Valon.
Earlier than expected
Temperature control is crucial for the quality of their products. That is why Mitrofresh opted for an all-in maintenance contract, where Airclima extends the warranty of the entire cooling installation for several years so that the total management costs of the installation are known and the customer can avoid any unpleasant surprises. "The construction went according to schedule; indeed, the refrigeration system was even finished earlier than expected. We wanted it operational before Christmas, but in the end, it was already running in mid-December."
Energy efficiency
With the new building, energy efficiency was high on the agenda, says Valon. "We use a CO2 installation because of energy efficiency and to be future-proof. We also use the waste heat from the cold stores to heat the offices, for example. We are always looking at smart solutions to save energy."
Fast completion
The cooperation with Airclima has pleased Mitrofresh. "From the first contact, they were thoughtful and involved in the whole process. We got in touch with them through an existing relationship, and it soon became clear that the price-quality ratio was right. That helped us tremendously. To avoid double costs, you want to complete a construction process quickly, and partly thanks to Airclima, we succeeded."
Geert Gebruers, project manager at Airclima for more than 25 years, also looks back on the project with satisfaction: "We realized approximately 3,200 m² of refrigerated space and a separate freezer section here. Installation was quite a challenge, as we only had six weeks to carry out the entire project. Mitrofresh wanted an energy-efficient and fail-safe installation in a short time, and they succeeded with this beautiful CO2 installation."
