Onion recall called off

A recall notice previously posted by a retailer regarding the potential contamination of onions with Listeria monocytogenes has been taken down. The supplier, Tex Mex Sales, has clarified that it did not issue a recall of onions. Following sound scientific procedures and food safety best practices, the company had requested that customers temporarily hold product while additional information was gathered to confirm the absence of a pathogen following routine facility testing.

"We aim to be proactive and transparent with customers and always put food safety first," said Mike Davis of Tex Mex Sales. "We have an aggressive environmental testing program, which we will continue to improve to ensure our organization is constantly providing not only the best-tasting but the safest onions possible."

Tex Mex Sales remains committed to the highest food safety standards and will continue working closely with its partners to maintain the utmost clarity and confidence in its products. The company appreciates the cooperation of its customers and the industry's shared commitment to safety and quality.

The National Onion Association commends Tex Mex for adhering to a high food safety standard and for being proactive in its pursuit of providing safe and healthy produce. The health and safety of consumers is and continues to be a top priority of the NOA and its members.
