After 22 years, Anton Filippo has stepped down from Logistic Business Partners Rotterdam. Although he will continue to advise and assist the logistics service provider, this marks the end of his active employment. During Fruit Logistica on Thursday evening, his farewell was given special attention with a dinner attended by colleagues, customers, and other associates at restaurant Il Cardonale.
CEO Francois Havinga, who has worked alongside Anton for all these years, praised him for being the face of LBP. "You have traveled all over the world for LBP, shared our story, and promoted our services. We are immensely grateful to you for that. Over the years, LBP has grown into a major logistics provider in the exotic fruit segment."
Anton and his wife Joke, Jasper Karbaat and his wife Anika, as well as Lize and Francois Havinga.
Anton, usually never at a loss for words, found himself momentarily humbled by all the attention and words of praise. He expressed his appreciation for the expertise within the LBP team and thanked those present for many years of friendship and collaboration. "I never wanted to be the biggest, but the best. Quality, continuity, and personal contact have always been my guiding principles."
John van Wijk of RAAD International, Ron Toet of Combilo, Ken Heussen, Rob Timmermans, Konrad Cyba, and Jannes Gooren of Teboza, along with Begun Buke of RAAD International Istanbul.
Anton's successor, Peter van der Klift, had already been preparing to take over his responsibilities in recent months. He acknowledged the challenge ahead. "You are a logistics icon. In the lead-up to your farewell, we kept hearing words like loyalty, friendship, and trust. That is a great testament to your character. I can only hope to be remembered in the same way in 20 or 25 years."

Anton is not worried about falling into a so-called 'black hole' after stepping down. "There is a time for everything, and this also creates space for new activities. For instance, I have been involved in the wine trade as a hobby with a friend over the past few years, and we plan to expand that soon. I certainly won't get in Peter's way, but I will always be available for advice when needed."
