Tiền Giang exports $500 million in January, targets $6.3 billion for 2025

The Cửu Long (Mekong) Delta province of Tiền Giang reported an export turnover of US$500 million in January, representing around 8% of its annual target. Key agricultural products, such as rice and vegetables, have shown growth since the year's start. Approximately 13,000 tons of rice were exported, generating $8 million, marking an increase of over 53% in volume and 37% in value compared to the previous year.

Nearly 4,500 tons of vegetables and fruits were shipped, earning $15 million, up nearly 24% in volume and over 56% in value year-on-year. Tiền Giang aims for exports worth $6.3 billion in 2025, a 5% increase from 2024. To meet this goal, the province is leveraging strengths, seizing opportunities, expanding markets, and promoting key agricultural and aquatic exports.

Lưu Văn Phi, director of the Department of Industry and Trade, stated that since early 2025, local authorities have implemented solutions to drive export growth. Efforts include maximizing the benefits of free trade agreements, expediting administrative procedures, and supporting export enterprises. The province is enhancing supply-demand connections, promoting trade, and exploring new markets.

Businesses are encouraged to adopt information technology, utilize e-commerce platforms, and integrate digital tools to improve efficiency and boost exports. Tiền Giang is also directing key agencies to collaborate with farmers, cooperatives, and enterprises to develop stable raw material sources, ensuring a consistent supply of export-quality products.

The province's main export markets include China, the US, the EU, Japan, and South Korea. With a favorable climate, fertile soil, and abundant freshwater, Tiền Giang has a foundation for developing specialized fruit-growing areas for export, with over 84,000 ha of orchards yielding more than 1.7 million tons of fruit annually.
