Bonsai Robotics Inc. has raised $15 million in Series A funding to further develop its AI solutions for agricultural applications. The funding round was led by Bison Ventures, with participation from new investor Cibus Capital and existing investors including Acre Venture Partners, Congruent Ventures, Fall Line Capital, E14 Fund, SNR, and Serra Ventures.
The new investment will support software enhancements, expansion of its AI platform, increased data collection, additional partnerships with original equipment manufacturers (OEMs), and efforts to bring its technology to market at a larger scale.
Bonsai Robotics specializes in AI-driven automation for orchard management. Its product, Visionsteer, offers data insights, crop analysis, notifications, job planning, and autonomous vehicle control. The company has partnered with multiple equipment manufacturers and has deployed over 40 units in tree nut orchards across the U.S. and Australia. Bonsai has also collected operational data from over 500,000 acres, using AI-driven technology to improve efficiency, reduce operational costs, and enhance crop management for orchard growers.
According to Tyler Niday, Co-Founder and CEO of Bonsai Robotics, the funding will allow the company to expand its partnerships with manufacturers and growers while continuing to develop AI-driven automation solutions that address challenges in labor shortages, operational efficiency, and sustainability.
Bison Ventures founding partner Tom Biegala noted that Bonsai's approach to agricultural automation aims to address efficiency and labor challenges in specialty crop production.
