The network of the Emilia Romagna wholesale markets has just completed a mission to Dubai to establish new business contacts. One year ago, the market structures of Bologna, Rimini, Parma, and Cesena presented a regional project for internationalization and solidarity logistics. In recent days, representatives have traveled to Dubai to meet their contacts in the flesh.
"The aim is to open trade channels in the Emirates," says Alessandro Giunchi, administrator of the Cesena Market, "and we can be pleased with the results. The mission was organized thanks to the Italian Chamber of Commerce in Dubai. We met some 20 operators at an event held at an Italian restaurant, Bistrot 90. We showcased and sampled Italian fruit and vegetables shipped for the occasion, thus demonstrating that the logistics aspect is not that complicated if it is part of an organized project."
"Our aim is to focus on high-end products and, therefore, involve specialized shops and high-end H&R offering the best of international products. Italian fruit and vegetables are among the most sought-after categories."

"We also met with a possible logistics partner and a financial operator in order to obtain appropriate support. The contacts we made exceeded our expectations. We will then meet other operators at the next food fair in Dubai," he says.
"Our aim is to concentrate an offer of high-end products thanks to the expertise of our wholesalers, and to organize transport (by air) thanks to our logistics platforms so that the fruit and vegetables reach the shelves and restaurants in Dubai in a very short time."
