Rushton's, an environmentally conscious UK based greengrocer, announces its achievement of ISO 14001 certification, reinforcing its commitment to sustainability and environmental stewardship.
As a forward-thinking greengrocer, Rushton's sought ISO 14001 certification to validate its implementation of an effective environmental management system (EMS). This certification ensures that Rushton's manages both the immediate and long-term environmental impacts of its operations. By aligning with its core values of reducing its ecological footprint and enhancing resource efficiency, Rushton's continues to comply with environmental regulations, improve its practices, and set measurable environmental objectives.
"Achieving ISO 14001 certification is a significant milestone for Rushton's, demonstrating our unwavering commitment to environmental sustainability and responsible practices," said William Thorogood, Director of Rushton's. "This certification not only validates our efforts to minimise our environmental impact but also sets a benchmark for our future initiatives. I am proud of the team's dedication and hard work in reaching this goal, and we remain focused on continually improving our environmental performance."
Rushton's is on a mission to lead by example in the industry, ensuring that its operations not only meet but exceed environmental standards. As part of its future plans, Rushton's is currently working towards becoming zero waste to landfill and anticipates achieving certification in the coming months. "This initiative is part of our broader mission to transform the fresh produce supply chain and contribute positively to the planet while delivering high-quality, sustainably sourced produce to our customers," said William.
Part of the S.Thorogood Group, Rushton's heritage spans generations, originating from the Thorogood family's vegetable farming roots in Essex since the nineteenth century and evolving into fresh produce wholesaling at London's historic Borough Market in 1922. Today, S Thorogood & Sons flourishes across key London markets including New Spitalfields, New Covent Garden and Western International.
