Westfalia Fruit, a large supplier of avocados and other fruit and related products, takes a full stake in Euro West. Euro West was founded in 1970 by Piet Vijverberg under the name Revij and taken over by his son Marco Vijverberg in 2000, who changed the name to Euro West.

The acquisition symbolizes a long-term relationship and marks a new chapter in the history of both companies. The company, which traditionally specialized in packaging solutions for fruit and vegetables, became 51% owned by Westfalia Fruit in 2013. Marco Vijverberg: "Westfalia was our customer and I first really became acquainted with the company in 2010, when I was in South Africa with my father and visited several of their avocado plantations and locations. There was an immediate match, our companies shared the same passion and values. When Westfalia Fruit proposed this partnership in 2013, I did not hesitate for long and it is the best thing that could have happened to Euro West."
The company has experienced stable growth since 2013 and the time has now come for a new phase. A new chapter begins with the transfer of shares: "I confidently hand over the baton to Westfalia Fruit," says Vijverberg.
Wim Destoop, President Europe for Westfalia Fruit, sees many opportunities: "Marco has made Euro West big and it has become a household name in the Dutch fresh produce industry. We are pleased to fully welcome Euro West to the Westfalia family and are convinced that our collective expertise and commitment to quality and innovation will help us strengthen our leading position in the industry. The Poeldijk branch will play a crucial role in our company's European strategy." The other Dutch branch of Westfalia Fruit in the Netherlands, currently located in Maasdijk, will also move to Poeldijk.
