BNSF Railway, GMXT, and J.B. Hunt Transport Services have announced a forthcoming intermodal service set to commence on January 1, 2024. This new service will connect Monterrey, Silao-Bajio, and Pantaco-Mexico City regions through the Eagle Pass, Texas border gateway, offering customers a more reliable and sustainable transportation option for the seamless movement of goods across the border between Mexico and the United States. The trains carrying intermodal containers will interchange at Eagle Pass, Texas, with GMXT operating the trains between the border crossing and Monterrey, Silao-Bajio, and Pantaco-Mexico City six days a week.
This collaboration aims to provide customers with coast-to-coast access in the U.S. and facilitate growth in the expanding Mexico markets. The strategic gateway at Eagle Pass is anticipated to enhance cross-border solutions, offering optionality to support the evolving supply chain needs in Mexico.
The partners, having made significant investments in their intermodal networks, envision cost savings and sustainability benefits, contributing to the overall success of the new service offering. With a dedicated BNSF customer support team available 24/7 to track shipments, this intermodal service is poised to enhance market reach, ease the customs clearance process, and provide dedicated support to meet the evolving demands of customers on both sides of the border.
