November apple storage levels up 32.4 percent over last year

According to a monthly survey, the total number of apples in storage on November 1, 2023, was 190.7 million bushels, 32.4 percent more than last November’s total of 144 million bushels and 19.8 percent more than the 5-year average for that date.

Fresh apple holdings this February totaled 140.2 million bushels, 36.1 percent more than the inventories reported for last November. Processing holdings totaled 50.6 million bushels, 23.2 percent more than last year on November 1.

This report captures more than 95 percent of the national storage capacity.
