PND, a leading company manufacturing machinery for fruit processing is located a stone's throw from the generous Amalfi coast, swept by the scent of lemon groves and home to the delicious Limoncello.
Right here in southern Italy, the company has invested in innovation specializing in the design and development of advanced systems, installing numerous lemon peeling systems dedicated to the industry of the typical liqueur.
FreshPlaza has talked about it with Virginia Cascella, export manager of the company, who illustrated peeling machine PL2, PL4 and PL6 to obtain lemon peel.
"The peeling machine is available with 2, 4 and 6 stations to process between 20 and 60 fruits per minute. The thickness of the peel can be adjusted between 1 and 3 mm. Each fruit is loaded manually by an operator and led to a coring section, where it is peeled at an adjustable speed. This process often ends with a mechanical yet natural squeezing, carried out by a belt machine that exerts a slight pressure to extract the juice without additional treatments. The peel obtained is used to produce limoncello, a typical local liqueur."
Thanks to a constant system evolution, PND has made the machine versatile and suitable for orange peel as well, which can be candied and used in the confectionery industry.
