There was an increase in Brazilian domestic demand for fruits in August

Despite good supply conditions, the price of the main fruits sold in the country's Supply Centers rose in August, according to data from the Hortigranjeiro Bulletin. Its monthly survey analyzes the products with the greatest weight in the calculation of the official inflation index and highlights the seasonal growth in demand during the period, characterized by the return to school.

On average, there was an increase of 7.2% in the volume sold in the eleven Supply Centers analyzed by the survey. In the case of bananas , the average price was R$3.61 per kilo, an increase of 13.12%. In addition to the end of school holidays, which increases institutional purchases, the increase in also influenced demand. The same context explains the appreciation of apples during this period, with an average of R$7.34 per kilo, an increase of 5.92%.
