Greenmed closes its Almassora plant and lays off its workforce

The decision of the company Greenmed de Almassora, of the Martinavarro group, to cease production and transfer the processing and packaging to other plants that the firm owns in Valencia and Huelva, will leave about 180 workers on the street.

Specifically, it will move its operations to Xeraco, Sollan, and Villalonga (all three in the province of Valencia) and Cartaya (Huelva). In fact, according to Mediterráneo, Greenmed's management has already informed the staff that it won't even start the campaign.

As a result of Greenmed's decision to redesign its structure, practically the entire workforce -which is made up mostly of women, some of whom have been linked to the company for more than 30 years- will be laid off. In the coming days, these workers will sit down with the company to negotiate the conditions of the termination of their contracts.
