Australia’s first double stacked container vehicle trialled at Port of Brisbane

Global logistics firm Qube Logistics successfully trialled its new Super B Double Double Stacked vehicle at the port of Brisbane in Australia, with the National Heavy Vehicle Regulator (NHVR), port of Brisbane Pty Ltd (PBPL) and the Australian Road Research Board (ARRB) in attendance.

This is the first time a double-stacked container vehicle has been trialled on public roads in Australia.

Port of Brisbane noted the trial was conducted under a temporary permit from NHVR and temporary consent from PBPL as the Port’s road manager.

The test was conducted under strict safety and operational conditions and the vehicle carried eight empty TEU containers on a designated route within Qube's port facilities and on restricted public port roads. Under its current permit and consent conditions, the new double stacked vehicle will transport empty boxes on a defined route within Qube’s facility and limited public port roads, under stringent safety and operational conditions.

PBPL CEO Neil Stephens commented, "This is a fantastic outcome for Qube and all parties involved today. It’s also a clear demonstration of the collaboration and innovation being achieved by our customers and partners here at the Port that’s enhancing productivity and efficiency in their operations."
