Lower Austria: Huge organic stone fruit site created in Mollram

"With our organic apricot, we are at world championship levels"

Brothers Michael and Christoph Simon are currently establishing an organic orchard in Mollram with 10,000 fruit trees, 5,000 of which are apricot trees. "Of course, we looked at similar projects in Germany and South Tyrol and everyone said we were crazy. Because the cultivation of the apricot alone is the 'Champions League', with our organic apricot we are at world championship levels," they say in an interview with NÖN.

Michael and Christoph Simon now focus on organic stone fruit.

"Our project is from the region for the region. In other words, the site will be open to the public and everyone can pick their own fruit. Payment will then be calculated by weight," Michael Simon explains. His brother Christoph adds: "Because freshly picked fruit from the tree tastes sensationally good. Additionally, it will also be cheaper for customers this way, because packaging or transport costs are completely eliminated."
