Interview with Domenico Raneri, president of the consortium

Excellent Mundial netted melon campaign

"It's an excellent year for Consorzio Mundial Group melons. Demand is high and we are very pleased with both production and commercialization," explains President Domenico Raneri.

"The weather, albeit fluctuating, facilitated production this year, so much so that ripening and Brix levels are in line with our standards which, as is known, are stricter when it comes to this product segment. It is not easy to keep the level high, but it is what is expected of Consorzio Mundial. We do not betray the trust of the chain nor that of its most important link - final consumers."

Consorzio Mundial Group is made up of a restricted number of well-structured and highly-qualified consumers whose crops are located in Licata (AG), Palma di Montechiaro (AG), Ispica (RG) and Pachino (SR), i.e. along the southern coast of Sicily. The companies part of the consortium are Chiaramonte, Fruttomania, Cooperativa San Tommaso, MasterFruit, OrtoBig, Salfrutta and Fonteverde Aziende Agricole associate. This year, the company presents a new revised logo.

"Our netted melons never drop below 14 degrees Brix, because we adapted the varietal offer to harvesting periods. In particular, the consortium boasts new exclusive varieties in addition to historic ones, one of which is medium late and maintains an excellent reaction to main diseases such as powdery mildew. All the varieties grown exclusively by Consorzio Mundial Group are flavorful and interpret the tradition of Italian aroma. An added value that has continued to represent the best of a consolidated chain for 17 years.

Consorzio Mundial Group melons are recognizable especially by retail chains, which appreciate their presence on the shelves. A demanded and awaited product by consumers who care particularly about the superior flavor and topics of health and sustainability. The guarantee of high quality standards for a unique melon perfectly combines with environmental sustainability, food safety and ethics throughout all phases of the process.

The consortium covers 800 hectares and Mundial melons are mainly sold on the domestic market and northern Italy in particular.
