Cold chains of Indore have recorded over 90 per cent occupancy this season despite a delay in stocking. Potatoes, carrots and beetroots usually occupies close to 80- 90 per cent of space in within the Indore region cold chains. But this season cold chains saw more of carrots, beetroots, chana and cereals.
According to Cold Chain Association of Indore president Hasmukh Gandhi, occupancy in cold chains remained more than 90 per cent this season, but the share of potatoes - usually occupying the lion's share - remained lower due to poor output. The gap was filled by carrots and beetroots as production of these vegetables were on higher side.
Indore is a leading trading centre, getting a high volume of agricultural goods from its surroundings and nearby villages for trading and storage in cold chains.
