Collaboration between C-Led and Vivai Bacchetto

"The right light improves development and reduces costs"

Vivai Bacchetto from Chioggia (Venice) produces 600 million plants a year thanks to customized artificial lighting obtained in collaboration with C-Led.

"Our company was established around 20 years ago for the nursery production of vegetable and fruit plants. Things evolved a lot since then, and we now produce 600 million plants every year, 25% of which are exported. The most popular product are industry tomatoes, followed by chicory," explains owner Roberto Boscolo Bacchetto.

Vivai Bacchetto boasts 20 hectares of greenhouses and 250 collaborators. "Technology and innovation are important in a company, but I still put personnel in the first place. You go nowhere without people. Having a stable and passionate nucleus of collaborators was essential for our growth. Innovation and investments must follow suit, but, I repeat, human capital is the most important. We are lucky because the average age of our employees is low, and everyone knows young people provide an important push for a company."

The company will attend Fruit Logistica (Hall 2.2 stand C11). When it comes to foreign countries, it works mainly with Poland, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary, Austria, and Germany. It mainly exports celery and brassicas to Poland and cucurbits to Austria and Germany.

Innovation is another keyword for Bacchetto. As explained by Marco Battalliard, local agent for C-Led and Munters: "The company's impetus for change is ongoing. They are currently carrying out tests that include one in collaboration with the University of Padua with the aim to find the best management of the humidity/temperature ratio to use less energy and reach the best condition for plants."

The collaboration with C-Led aims at innovation. "We would like to thank Vivai Bacchetto for the trust. We supplied them with lights for a grafting chamber and for development trays. By managing the light in the best way possible, the quality of plants is improved while saving energy, as the lights are only on when needed," added Raffaello Montanari from C-Led.

"I'm hopeful for 2023, though many clients are uncertain about the future. Some are reducing their programs because they fear the market will not be able to absorb the production. Then there is the question of costs. On our part, we continue to provide our services and assistance to the over 1000 companies we work with," concludes Roberto Boscolo Bacchetto.
