Kaluga region of Russia exports 645 tons of mushrooms

The Interregional Department of Rosselkhoznadzor summed up the results of exports from the Kaluga region. The department reports that in 2022, the region's farmers sent 645 tons of mushrooms outside the country. Products were supplied to the Republic of Belarus (423 tons) and Kyrgyzstan (222 tons).

68 phytosanitary certificates were issued for the export of champignons. It is noted that the cargo met all the requirements.

The geographic factor remains important in the mushroom market. The main production facilities are concentrated in the European part of Russia. The transportation of mushrooms grown here to the east adds tens of rubles to each kilogram of the product, which makes the business unprofitable. According to experts, it is advisable to build mushroom farms in the east, since the import of mushrooms from China is large there.
