With immediate effect, Gemüsering Stuttgart GmbH has a stake in the two companies Actiture Dos Mil SL (Finca Las Torres) and Ecolajon SL. The Spanish group farms almost 700 hectares of organically certified land, and another 250 hectares which are still cultivated conventionally. With two production cycles per year, 1,500 hectares of annual production are possible, of which 60% is broccoli and 15% is cauliflower. The farm is located half an hour from Zaragoza, in the regions of Aragon and Navarre. Due to the mild climate in winter, production takes place between October and June. Water is sufficiently available due to the proximity to the Pyrenees. Organic cultivation started in 2006.
Together with the Gemüsering, the two farmers Luis-Miguel Aguado Pérez and Cándido Lite Bellón, whose children also work in the company, will remain actively involved in the business going forward. The companies will continue to be led by Managing Director, Juan Miguel Artazcoz Zabalegui.
The United Kingdom is now the largest market for the products, with important customers also including producers of frozen food from the Navarre region.
Thorsten Beckmann from Gemüsering says: We are very happy that we have now formally sealed the partnership that began more than a year ago. Together we want to further expand marketing and production in the coming years. For us, this is an important step on the way to further strengthening our own production abroad.
Cándido Lite Bellón is looking forward to the future together on the Spanish side: With Gemüsering as a partner, we can draw on a network of know-how from marketing and production that will enable us to pursue our ambitious goals and implement them successfully.
