Total Canadian potato storage holdings on December 1 up just slightly YoY

Total Canadian Potato Storage Holdings on December 1, 2022 are up just slightly over 2021 numbers but are still 11.7% above the 3-yr. average.

Demand is overall strong for both fresh and processing given the short crop in the US. The pull is noticeable in Eastern Canada with just over 26% of inventory already shipped based on harvest numbers until now.

Compared simply to 2021 numbers, only Alberta and Manitoba have shown an increase in the number of potatoes in storage as of December 1st, however all provinces except British Columbia are still well above the 3-year average for holdings at this time of
