Chile's table grape export season is delayed by 2 weeks

The table grape season has been delayed by about two weeks as a result of the cold in the spring, according to information delivered to Simfruit by IQosulting. The export figures confirm it, until week 48, which ended on December 4, there have been no shipments of grapes; by the same date of the previous season, the country had already exported 37 tons (4,560 boxes of 8.2 kg).

On Monday, December 5, Agricola Manflas timidly began the harvest in the upper part of Copiapo. The first variety being harvested is the Superior variety (seedless white. The harvest of the Sweet Globe variety (seedless white) is scheduled to start on Friday, December 9. According to Simfruit, it's unlikely that any volume will be dispatched this week; however, producers have already separated spaces on ships to load them in week 50th.

One of the most notable factors this season is that the new varieties are expected to make a greater contribution to exports, accounting for nearly 65% of exports, due to the decrease in the area of traditional varieties.
