Consumers in Australia continue to bemoan the high prices of fresh produce. They have to fork out between Aus $12 ($ ) and Aus $20 ($13.52 USD) per kg of table grapes at major retailers, that is more than double the 'normal' low of around Aus $8 ($5.4 USD) per kg.
People complain that they have to limited their purchases to absolutely essential and limited amounts of table grapes and blueberries. They are also worried about high prices and affordability this Christmas shopping period.
Australian consumers say the high prices are unsustainable while the retailer Aldi says consumers can get the best value on fruit and veg in their stores.
