After nearly six years of negotiations, Vietnam has obtained a license from the US Department of Agriculture for the export of fresh pomelos.
Mangoes, longans, lychees, dragon fruit, rambutan, and star apples have already been approved for entry into the US
Before being shipped to the US must be irradiated at US-recognised irradiation centres under the supervision of the US Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service and the Plant Protection Department.
Exports to the US hit 219 million USD, up 19 percent over the same period last year and accounting for 10.5 percent of total export turnover of Vietnamese fruit and vegetables.
