Low-calorie and high-fruit content products boast a double-digit growth

Vis was set up in the heart of Valtellina and specializes in high-quality jam. "We have never betrayed our mission, even though we have veered towards organic and light products over the past few years, as they are increasingly in demand. Healthy products boast in fact a double-digit growth. This year, on the occasion of our 40th anniversary, we presented our new "Pù frutta Light" recipe with just 6 kcal per portion also thanks to the use of stevia," explains Giorgio Visini, CEO of Vis.

Vis is located in Lovero (SO) and was founded in the 1980s. Over the years, it specialized in the production of jams, marmalades, fruit in syrup, fruit mostarda and other products commercialized mainly through the big retail chain.

It was 1982 when Guido and Andrea Visini, who at the time owned an agricultural business in Valtellina, obtained a particularly abundant harvest of blueberries, blackberries and raspberries. The idea thus came to them to start producing a line of jams with a high fruit content.

Over the past few years, the company has grown from 2.7 to 3.5 million jars using up to 700 tons of strawberries, raspberries, mixed berries, blueberries, apricots, chestnuts and peaches. The celebrations for the 40th anniversary of the company in October 2022 were also the occasion for the President and founder Guido Visini (in the photo) to present his autobiography."

As for commercialization, after the great success of the 'Più Frutta Benessere' range, which also includes Goji berry, Blueberry and Açai  berry, Passion Fruit, Pineapple and Bergamot orange jams, the company decided to pursue the path of product and process innovation by experimenting with new recipes that exalt the naturalness of ingredients.

“We inaugurated 2022 by launching our Buckets, which marked our entry into the channel of professional bakery. Then there is the company's main line, Natura e Tradizione: extra jam with a 75% fruit content available in 18 different flavors in 340 gram jars. Più Frutta light (6 kcal per portion, sweetened with stevia) contains 86% fewer calories on average than the most popular fruit jams (source: UnioneItalianaFood.it). It is available in the following flavors: apricot, peach, sour cherry, mixed berries, raspberries, blueberries, strawberries and blackberries. The 220 g jar boasts an entirely new graphic design."

“Respecting nature is one of the pillars of our company, which was born and bred in the heart of the Alps. To deal with the current crisis, the company has tried to rationalize consumption and production as much as possible by reducing the consumption of water, fuel and electricity and, therefore, its environmental impact. As you can imagine, however, this has not prevented the price hikes from affecting us anyway."

“The must-have for Christmas 2022 is the traditional chestnut spread. The quality of this product is testified by the fact that, in addition to VIS-branded productions, we also have other productions dedicated to various big retail chains. Over the past year, 20% of the production was in fact destined to private labels, in a market where jams and marmalades have acquired a bigger role."

"Over the past five years, we have strengthened our internationalization process in the UK and Europe, especially in Germany, Switzerland, France and Spain. Despite the many difficulties linked with the pandemic and the energy crisis, we worked and invested to increase our share destined to be exported also to countries such as the UK and France, which have a strong jam culture. There, the Italian products can compete holding their head high."
