First direct train from Laos to China arrives with 543 tons of fruit

The first China-Laos train arrived with 543 tons of durian, longan and bananas from Vietnam to China.

It is the first direct train that connects Asian nations with fruit exports to China. The railway has reduced transport costs by up to 50% between Vietnam and China. A total of 25 containers of fruit was loaded in Thailand and Vietnam to make the journey of over 1 000 km.

It carried 351 tons of bananas, 154 tons of longan and 38 tons of durian. The railway was started a year ago with millions of passengers transported and the fruit cargo the latest 'passenger' on board.
