Almeria sends 12,000 kilos of blankets and warm clothes to Ukraine

The Association of Organizations of Fruit and Vegetable Producers of Almeria, Coexphal, has coordinated the shipment of a truck loaded with 12,000 kilos of blankets and warm clothes for men, women, children, and babies to Ukraine, in collaboration with the Association of Ukrainians in Almeria and Unica Group.

Nataliya Kravchuk, the vice president of the Association of Ukrainians in Almeria, said the truck had departed from Almeria this morning and that it would arrive in La Coruña where it would be loaded with another shipment managed by the Association of Ukrainians in Galicia (Aga). The cargo will be distributed in the areas in Ukraine liberated after the Russian invasion, such as Jerson and other populations badly damaged by the war.

Since the beginning of Russia's invasion of Ukraine, there have been many demonstrations of solidarity from various sectors. Almeria's greenhouse fruit and vegetable producing sector, for example, has shipped fruit and vegetable products to feed the population and provided work for Ukrainians displaced by the war.

"Coexphal learned that there was an association of Ukrainians in Almeria that was looking for work for the people who had to leave their country because of the war, and they wanted our help to employ them in the fruit and vegetable sector. We met with them and began to receive curricula vitae from possible people interested in working in our sector. The possibility of coordinating the shipment of material also emerged from this relationship. We contacted Unica Group and they collaborated by lending the truck that was used to transport the blankets to La Coruña," stated Alfonso Marti, from Coexphal's Human Resources Department.
