The proposed citrus estate in Aurangabad, aimed at cultivation and research in the field of sweet lime production, will probably become a reality soon. The State Agricultural Department has announced that the existing Taluka Seed Farm at Isarwadi in Paithan, some 40 km from Aurangabad city, will be used to set up the citrus estate.
With this, decks have been cleared for setting up the citrus estate that will now come up on 225 hectare. The farm will first be converted to a nursery in order to complete the necessary formalities. The state government had already sanctioned Rs 364 mln (€4.37 mln) for setting up the citrus estate. The proposed facility will also have a Centre of Excellence based on Indo-Israel technology and it will come up on around 45 hectare area.
