Rain, uncertain global markets make Indian table grape industry wary before export season

Indian table grape producers and exporters are wary ahead of the export season following heavy rain and uncertain global markets.

The heavy rain in the top production areas of Nashik, Pune and Ahmednagar district of Maharashtra affected the early season, with nearly nothing to harvest.  There is also great uncertainty around inflation in their key European market despite decreases in freight rates from India.

Table grape producers in India now expect a later start to their export season, instead of the end of January it will likely be from February.
