Planasa's endive will be back on the market as its plant in Navarra restarts its activities

"In the coming days, our endives will be available at the usual points of sale"

Planasa has announced that all of its varieties of endives will return to the market in November. Its production plant in Valtierra resumes its activity after the reconstruction of the damages caused by a fire that devastated the area in June.

The fire affected the main warehouse area of the production plant, leading the company to lose all of its raw materials, stocks, and auxiliary machinery. "After four months of hard work, we can announce that in the next few days our endives will be available at the usual points of sale," stated Cesar Salinas, Planasa's commercial manager. “We want to thank all our customers for trusting us and our product. We also want to thank everybody for the support we have received during these hard months,” he added.

The plant will return to complete normalcy when the entire staff is reinstated. "Having everything return to normal as soon as possible was a priority for us. It was a sign of our commitment, not only to our customers but also to our workers and to the final consumer," stressed Jose Manuel Sadaba, Planasa's endive coordinator.

In addition, the company has recovered the production figures prior to the incident, which means it can put into circulation more than 175,000 kilos of endive per week in order to recover 80% of the national market share. This rapid recovery in production capacity is making it possible to expand its distribution to more countries, such as Portugal, Italy, Germany, the United Kingdom, and Dubai.

Planasa is the largest producer of endives in Europe thanks to its factories in Valtierra (Navarra) and Peñafiel (Valladolid) which, thanks to their automated production system, are able to produce fresh endives 365 days a year. "All our products, from white endive to premium ones (Red, Baby, and Friselin), are natural high-quality healthy products and we are delighted to be able to put them back on the market," concluded Salinas.
