Onion shortage looming in Ghana over Christmas

Ghana has been warned that there may be onion shortages over Christmas due to more than 90% of traders having withdrawn from the business. This is mainly due to the weaker Ghanaian currency compared to the Dollar and CFA.

This is further compounded by lower volumes of onions in store as well as high duties and fuel costs that are forcing traders out of business.
