"The export of deep-processed garlic products is increasing year by year"

Deep-processed garlic products include garlic slices, garlic chunks, and garlic powder. China ranks first in the world in terms of the output and export of deep-processed garlic and onion products. "Overseas, especially the European and American markets, have a large demand for deep-processed garlic products. In recent years, our export volume has increased year by year," David Zheng of Jining Martin International Trade Co., Ltd told FreshPlaza.

The deep processing process of garlic, including slicing, washing, drying, and cooling, is then made into different sizes and specifications according to customer needs. Due to the dehydration treatment, it is easy to store and can be stored for 3-5 years.

"Garlic deep-processed products are mainly exported to the European, American and Japanese markets, of which North America is the most important market, accounting for one-third of the total export volume. The products are mainly used in cooking, disinfection of farm feed, food seasoning production and other fields. The catering industry in the North American market has grown in recent years, which has driven demand, so our exports to this market have continued to grow, and this year are about 10%-20% higher than last year," David introduced the general situation.

According to David, there are two factors that affect deep-processed garlic products: the price of raw garlic and the sea freight. In order to obtain high-quality garlic at a reasonable price, his company usually purchases and slices garlic in the summer when it is just on the market, when the garlic is fresh and of good quality, and also the price is lower.

"Thanks to the high domestic garlic output and good quality this year, the quality of deep-processed products is also good. In addition, compared with the high price of raw garlic last year, the price this year is normal and slightly lower, but the market of processed garlic products has been relatively stable. In addition, we have a certain reserve of fresh garlic ourselves, which is not easily affected by the sudden increase in the price of fresh garlic. On the other hand, this year, the sea freight has gradually returned to the normal price range, which is conducive to the stability of export prices.”

The processing business of Jining Martin International Trade Co., Ltd., includes deep-processed products such as garlic, onion, pepper, carrot and others The company has more than 60,000 square meters of workspace and 4 standardized production lines. Its deep-processed products are mainly exported to North America, Europe, Japan and South Korea. The annual export volume is about 30,000 tons, and the storage volume is about 50,000 tons with its own storage factory. The company has obtained the food certification required by the export market.
