ICAR develops improved lemon variety: the Thar Vaibhav

The Indian Council of Agricultural Research has developed an improved variety of lemon; the Thar Vaibhav. According to the scientists, the Thar Vaibhav plant has an average fruit bearing capacity of 60 kg and it starts fruiting from the third year.

Thar Vaibhav variety of lemon is an acid lime variety. The fruits of which can be obtained after 3 years of planting. The special thing is that these types of plants give good production only in low density. Its fruits are round with a smooth skin of an attractive yellow color. At the same time, its fruits have juice (49%), acidity (6.84%). So one fruit contains only 6 to 8 seeds. According to scientists, the Thar Vaibhav plant has an average fruit bearing capacity of 60 kg.

According to the scientists, its fruits are ready in summer. On average, a bunch of trees gives 3-9 fruits. In fact, such varieties are in high demand by the country’s acid lime producers, so they were released to meet the needs of the producers.
