According to Michael Gamal, Director of the Regional Office of the Egyptian-Brazilian Chamber of Commerce, activating the FTA Egypt signed with the MERCOSUR countries (Brazil-Argentina-Uruguay-Paraguay) in 2017 helped increase Egyptian exports to Brazil five-fold. These exports went from $103 million to $543 million.
The MERCOSUR also made it possible to increase the export of some Egyptian products to the Brazilian market, such as crops, in addition to exporting products for the first time, such as dates, garlic and citrus fruits. That is why the Chamber’s strategy during the coming period is to increase current exports and provide opportunities to export new products.
