Huili pomegranate starts sales season

Huili is known as the "hometown of Chinese pomegranates". Because of its unique geographical environment, it occupies a place in pomegranate sales throughout the country and even exports to Southeast Asia, the Middle East, Western Europe, and the Americas. The fruits are favored by consumers.

It is reported that as of 2021, the total planting area of pomegranates was 400,000 mu in Huili, ranking first among the eight major pomegranate-producing areas in China. The sales of pomegranates in Huili account for 50% of the national total, reaching 740,000 tons, with an output value of 5.8 billion yuan, which is a veritable "hometown of pomegranates in China".

"It is expected that the overall production and sales of pomegranates this year will increase slightly compared with last year, and sales are being counted," Zheng Ming, president of the Pomegranate Marketing Association, said. In the face of the general abnormal weather challenges encountered by Sichuan fruits this year, Huili pomegranate still achieved good results in the early days of sale.

There are two main reasons for this: one is industrial planning. Huili City has adjusted the proportion of planting areas of green and red pomegranate in the past two years, effectively improving the planting enthusiasm and production efficiency of fruit farmers.

The second reason is the improvement of the brand of Huili pomegranate. After years of development, it has formed "Huili soft seed pomegranate", "Huili pomegranate", and other word-of-mouth brands in the market, which directly enhanced the sales of Huili pomegranates in the major terminal markets.

Pu Yuan, deputy director of the Commerce and Economic Cooperation and Foreign Affairs Bureau of Huili City, said: "Regarding the future planning of Huili Pomegranate, we will shift our focus to the construction of the 'Huili Pomegranate' brand on the basis of improving the industrial base and the product essence, and enhancing and protecting the overall brand value and influence. For example, we'll promote brand upgrading in the areas of brand identity, product packaging, marketing publicity, etc., and carry out pomegranate marketing promotion meetings and live broadcast activities in large and medium-sized cities. In the future, we will strengthen the contact with Beijing, Guangzhou, Harbin, Zhejiang, and other main sales areas for Huili pomegranates to further enhance the brand influence of the fruit. ”
