According to Mr. Lu, "we primarily supply packaging products and services to fruit and vegetable traders and exporters. The fruit export industry accounts for about 40% of our export volume. We export packaging products to fruit production areas in Southeast Asia, South America, and the European Union, as well as South Africa.
"There are two main differences in our export products compared to our domestic products. First, we treat our cardboard boxes with a patented adhesive that helps to inhibit the growth of mold or oxidization during transport, which slows down the ripening process in fruit. Our packaging for tomatoes, for example, helps to extend the shelf life of tomatoes by half a month.
"Second, we use a pre-printing process that makes the boxes sturdier after they have been assembled. They do not easily change shape. Moreover, we use water-based ink, which is better for the environment than traditional oil-based ink. That is an important requirement in the international market."

The cost of wood pulp paper in the EU drastically increased in the last few years, and the quantity of trees cut down for pulp paper grew. At the same time, Chinese packaging facilities took advantage of low labor costs, low production costs, and swift technological improvements to strengthen their competitive position in the international market.
"Due to these developments, our share of the international market has significantly grown in the last few years. One important change in the international market in the last two years is that Russian printers have switched from newspaper printing to packaging paper. The export of Russian paper to China expanded, which reduced Chinese reliance on US craft paper. Not only did Russian paper export to China increase, the cost price of distribution is lower too, which gives Russian exporters an advantage," said Mr. Lu.
