Italian flame weeding technologies and studies have caught the attention of French operators. On September 15, 2002, Marco Mingozzi, CEO of Mingozzi Group, took part in a technical meeting on the cultivation of vegetables in France. The event took place in Saint Martin de la Place and was organized by the Chamber of Agriculture of Pays de la Loire with a focus on weeding, soil preparation and sowing.
"We were very pleased with the feedback, as we managed to explain how our system works to technicians and producers. The topic of weeding without using chemicals is popular in France too. The fact that the high temperatures deactivate the seeds was much appreciated, as it is ideal for vegetables," explained Mingozzi
The company, which manufactures machines for flame heat treatment, attended through French dealer Axion to present its weeding, disinfection and soil preparation solutions, which require minimum operations before sowing. These techniques are already widely used by Italian vegetable producers, especially when it comes to fast cycles.
"Italian fresh-cut produce growers have been using flame weeding - which has now evolved into flame heat treatment machines - for approximately thirty years not only to manage weeds, but also against fungi."
The day featured an explanation of the techniques applied and a demonstration with the machines.
