Lidl announces management change in Latvia and Estonia
Chairman of the board of Lidl Latvija and Lidl Eesti, Jākobs Jozefsons, will leave the role on 1 November 2022. He will continue his career with the parent company Schwarz Group as chairman of the board of Lidl Sverige, the discounter noted. Current board member of both companies Maciej Urbanski will succeed Jozefsons as the chairman of the board of Lidl Latvija and Lidl Eesti from the middle of October 2022.

JD.com ranks in BCG’s Most Innovative Companies 2022
JD.com has been recognized for the second time as one of the most innovative companies in the world by Boston Consulting Group (BCG) in its 50 Most Innovative Companies of 2022 list, ranking at 30th place. The ranking is based in large part on a survey of more than 1,500 global innovation executives, with a combination of the company’s performance on four dimensions including global mindshare, industry peer view, industry disruption and value creation. Six other Chinese companies, namely Huawei (8th), Alibaba (22nd), Lenovo (24th), Xiaomi (31st), Tencent (41st) and ByteDance (45th) are also on the list this year.

MySuki expands to 16 regions in the Philippines
Fresh off a $1.6mln seed round led by the Fast Logistics Group and CVC Capital Partners, MySuki announced that it is now in 16 of the 17 regions, making it the online grocery platform with the largest footprint in the Philippines. The company is now on track to reach P4bln in annualized gross merchandise value this year.

Tesco to open three new stores in Czechia in September
Tesco is to open three new stores in Czechia in September in Prague, Pardubice and Lysá nad Labem, according to media reports. The new openings will take the retailer's store count in the country to 189. The first store, a Tesco Express, opened its doors to customers on 14 September in Prague on Hráského Street, according to a report in the online publication zboziaprodej.cz.

Confederación Española de Comercio (CEC), the Spanish organisation to support local trade, has expressed its concern with the Spanish government's proposal to fix the price of certain goods. UK retail sales plunge, underlining risk of recession
British retail sales fell much more than expected in August, in another sign that the economy is sliding into recession as the cost of living crunch squeezes households' disposable spending. Retail sales volumes dropped by 1.6% in monthly terms in August, the Office for National Statistics said - the biggest fall since December 2021 and worse than all forecasts in a Reuters poll of economists that had pointed to a 0.5% fall.
