Peruvian fresh avocado exports will grow by 9-10% in volume at the end of the 2022 campaign

According to the president of the consulting firm Inform@cción, Fernando Cilloniz Benavides, everything indicates that, by the end of the 2022 campaign, Peru will increase its fresh avocado export volume by 9% to 10% over the previous campaign, in which the country exported 530,000 tons, thus achieving a new export record.

From the beginning of the campaign to date, exports already reach 559,000 tons, i.e. 8% more than the 517,500 tons shipped in the same period of the previous campaign, he added.

"In this year's campaign, there were 4 months in which we dispatched around 100 thousand tons of fresh avocado. Last year, there were only two months in which we dispatched a similar volume (June and July)," he stated. In May of this year, Peru exported 100,810,781 kilos. In the same month of 2021, the country dispatched 87,683,053 kilos. In June, Peru exported 103,751,927 kilos (108,976,344 kilos in 2021). In July, shipments amounted to 116,441,892 kilos (107,757,873 kilos in 2021), and in August they stood at 99,136,524 kilos (75,235,052 kilos in 2021).

So far in September (by September 12), the country had dispatched a total of 25,471,217 kilos; a very close volume to the 26,528,925 kilos that Peru exported throughout September 2021.

"In previous years, the avocado campaign would have ended by now, but this year we are still exporting very interesting volumes. We've had very strong exports in August and September, so much so that by the 12th of September we have dispatched almost the same volume as we exported throughout the whole month of September last year," he concluded.
