ImpacTrack can be housed in carrier shells mimicking 32 different items of fresh produce

UK company Martin Lishman will be back at Fruit Logistica this year, the company supplies specialist equipment for the agricultural industry and one of the main products which be showcased this year is the ImpacTrack, a shock sensor and logger housed in a carrier shell that mimics the size and shape of fresh produce and monitors damage caused by handling and transport operations.

"Early this year saw the introduction of a pineapple to the ever growing list of carrier shells," explains Marketting Manager Matt Swinn. "Requested from a pineapple processing facility in Costa Rica, the pineapple shape including the leaves of the crown was created using the very latest in 3D printing techniques and materials to accurately mimic its real counterpart. This was followed by the addition of a sweet potato, gala melon and coconut to the line-up."

"The ImpacTrack sensor is housed in a carrier shell designed to meet specific requirements, we can match the size, shape and density of real produce in order to reproduce the movement characteristics of produce prone to damage and bruising during handling and transport, and therefore get as close as possible to a realistic representation of impact ‘black spots’ in handling machinery."

The carrier shell library has now got over 32+ shapes available.

"Despite all the interruptions over the past few years, we stand by Fruit Logistica as being the best showcase for the fresh produce industry. We like the fact that the show is seen as an international event, and gives us the chance to talk face to face with customers from all over the world to show them the benefits of ImpacTrack and how it can help them improve their processes and reduce waste.
