For the 2021/2022 season, citrus exports from Morocco could reach 630,000 tons, which is about 10% more than last year, according to USDA.

The department of agriculture indicates that orange exports should increase by 20% to reach 120,000 tons. As for the mandarins, the exports should increase by 7.4% to reach 500,000 tons. And the volume of lemons exported should remain the same as last year, which is about 10,000 tons.

The global citrus harvest should therefore increase by 12% year-on-year to reach 2.55 million tons in 2021/2022 thanks to the great weather conditions. And another 129,350 hectares should be planted.

The citrus production in Morocco is mainly concentrated in the regions of Souss Massa, Gharb and Moulouya. The country exports its citrus fruits mainly to Russia, the EU and Canada.
