Nigerian mushroom growers seek inclusion in CBN program

The National Mushroom Growers, Processors and Marketers Association of Nigeria is intent on addressing the various challenges hindering growth in the mushroom subsector in the country. The association advocated the inclusion of the subsector into the Anchor Borrowers’ Program of the Central Bank of Nigeria, so mushrooms producers would be able to benefit from the products’ $45.3 bln global market.

According to President of the Association, Michael Awunor, the global mushroom market has been growing exponentially. This means that there is a lucrative and attractive option for Nigeria to key into mushroom production for economic diversification and job creation.
