Sustainability label for Equans’ condensation drying technology

One of 1,000 clean and profitable solutions in the world to protect the environment. This is what EQUANS’ (the new name of ENGIE Refrigeration) condensation drying technology can call itself now that it has been awarded the Solar Impulse Efficient Solutions Label.

The drying and storage system enables arable farmers to store their products for a longer time without compromising on quality and doing business in an energy-neutral way at the same time. The condensation dryer is a hybrid cooling and heating installation in one. Whereas the heat pump dries products quickly or keeps them at the right temperature, solar panels generate the fraction of energy that is required for this. In this way, maximum energy efficiency is achieved.

For the attribution of the label, external independent experts examined the technology on 3 main criteria:

  • The technology has proven to be successful in practice.
  • It has a demonstrable positive impact on the environment and reduces the CO2 footprint.
  • It is a cost-effective solution with a short payback period.
