Vignasol sheets by Agriplast

Diffusion of sunlight in the vineyard protected by hollow glass microspheres

The harvest period encompasses the synthesis of all the care that goes into managing the vineyard and represents the apex of the campaign, which rewards all the work with its fruits. What's behind a successful wine-growing campaign in modern times? Undoubtedly the sacrifices of the grower, but also a lot of technology apparently hidden in the tools and means that are used, such as the protective sheets for the vineyards. The right coverage can make the difference in the management of the finest and early grapes.

Vignasol®

Extraordinary results have been achieved on vineyards protected with the Vignasol® sheet, designed and patented by the company Agriplast. This sheet represents an absolute innovation in in the field of vineyard coverings, because it consists of a polymeric matrix containing hollow glass microspheres. the latter substitute the traditional mineral elements used to diffuse the sun's rays and act as a filter against solar radiation, without reducing the overall brightness under the sheet.

Telo Vignasol®

This technology therefore allows optimal temperature control, even at a thinner layer of thicknesses, without sacrificing brightness, in order to stimulate the photosynthesis of the plant in the best possible way. The results obtained in the field, and documented by Agriplast's R&D department, showed a considerable advance of the harvest, with a more uniform color of the fruit, even in red grapes.

This year we have observed an overall poor coloration of some red berry varieties, a phenomenon that can be compensated with a proper sheet, which doesn't eliminate the thermal changes (necessary for the pigmentation), but mitigates the unwanted effects.

Another factor encountered when using Vignasol® is the yield, with a considerable increase in fruit size. Moreover, with the use of this sheet there are no burns on the foliar apparatus and, on the other hand, there is a greater lignification of the fruiting heads, with a consequent increase in production in the following season.

The quality of the materials used and the 7-layer extrusion technology also give this covering material extraordinary characteristics of mechanical resistance and durability, even at very reduced thicknesses, allowing the farmer a considerable saving.

Vignasol®, born from the collaboration between Agriplast and Annalena Plastic, is available in thicknesses of 120 µm, 150 µm and 180 µm. The plastic films produced by Agriplast undergo a second processing at the Annalena plants, where reinforcements and cords in PP (polypropylene) are applied, which makes the product ideal for vineyard structures and beyond.
