"Ginger prices in China rising while export prices remain stable"

“In Anqiu, the main ginger producer in China, the new harvest season kicked off on October 10 as usual. The overall quality is better, and despite the impact of the earlier dry weather, production has decreased by 15%-20% compared with the previous season,” Zhang Yang of Anqiu Xinlong Food Co., Ltd. said.

“Recently, ginger prices in the China market have been rising while the export prices are relatively stable - although they are also rising, the increases are small. The rising prices are mainly due to the fact that we are now in a transition period and the total supply in the market is lower. Accordingly, the volume of goods that can be exported is also smaller. As of now, the ginger we harvested last year has basically been sold out, and we have new crops in the warehouses. We are preparing to supply products throughout the year next year. It is expected that the new crops will be available in 40 days."

“I expect the prices of new crops to be higher than last year. However, due to many factors, such as market conditions, demand from foreign markets, and manipulations, it is still difficult to say. As a large-scale ginger export company, we mainly export ginger to Europe and the Middle East. We hope to join hands with more overseas buyers and explore business opportunities together thanks to our zero pesticide residue products and good corporate reputation."
