China: "High pepper prices create opportunities for Indian imports"

The price of Chinese peppers rapidly increased at the beginning of this year. The current price is much higher than in previous years. This situation is the result of extreme weather conditions in production areas. The overall supply volume of Chinese peppers is much smaller than in previous years. The price of dried peppers naturally increased as well because the price of dried peppers heavily depends on the price of fresh peppers.

"Traders gradually turn their attention to other pepper suppliers because the price of Chinese peppers remains high and shows no sign of coming down. The retail conditions for the dried peppers that we import from India are particularly good this year. This is primarily because the price of dried Indian peppers is much lower than the price of Chinese peppers, but the product quality is also higher."

"The pepper variety we import from India is the S4, it is a stemless dried pepper. We mainly sell these peppers in major cities throughout China. We welcome traders who are interested in cooperation. We have stable, long-term connections with traders in India and we have more than enough supply. We currently have enough peppers to satisfy Chinese market demand."
