OP La Deliziosa, with its 112 members and 1,340 hectares in total, sells its best prickly pears under the Sicilio brand, which has an innovative packaging and focuses on high-quality and a strong connection with the local territory.
"Although market results are comforting, we have noticed peaks of sudden ripening and considerable quantities available in August and September. Quantities were lower in October and November."
This is what reported by Salvatore Bua, sales manager of OP La Deliziosa, who works together with marketing and communications manager Pietro Bua.
The market share continues to increase, just like the interest from retailers. This is because consumers can recognise high-quality products more and more.
"This is also thanks to the considerable commitment OP La Deliziosa puts into using significant marketing and communication resources with the aim of making consumers enjoy a prestigious purchasing experience."
More volumes are now exported to markets such as France, Germany and Switzerland. The importance of the Spanish market is also increasing, as it appreciates this fruit's qualities.
"The OP has invested a lot to increase its production areas, renew the orchards and planting new ones to support larger volumes, improved quality and brand promotion. All the land is part of the Ficodindia dell'Etna DOP area."
Now that the prickly pear season is over, the time has come for citrus fruit. Clementines and Navel oranges are now available and then it will be the turn of Nova clementines and blood orange varieties.
