China: 'Baitao' honey peaches sell out as soon as they hit the market
"Baitao One and Baitao Two are improved breeds of honey peaches, based on the autumn red honey peach and the Yingshuanghong peach. They are large, sweet, and can be stored and transported well. They weigh between 200 and 350 grams. This year, Baitao peaches have entered the market after the National Holiday, and have a shelf life until the middle of November. They sold very well, selling out this year's 800 tons already," according to Mr. Mou Guifu of Taizhou Jiasheng Ecological Agriculture Co Ltd.

"These high quality honey peaches come from the Yishui Jin Longshan Agricultural Collaborative in Shandong. The collaboration owns around 180 hectares (1,800 mu), and mainly grows 'Baitao One' and 'Baitao Two'. Their fields have already gained an organic authentication from America, the European Union and China. All their honey peaches are sold under the 'Baitao' brand through traditional sales channels to large-scale distributors and supermarkets in cities all over China."

"Compared to other breeds of honey peaches, the high quality of 'Baitao' peaches derives from its superior production environment. The Jin Longshan Cooperative is located at the hinterland of the Yi Meng mountain area, with 2,200 to 3,000 sun hours per year, and large temperature differences. Its unique climate and mineral spring water bring something special to the unique taste of 'Baitao' peaches. Furthermore, Mr. Zhao Chuanbo, chairman of the co-op, has special knowledge on agricultural development. He strives to standardize and upscale the operations in all segments, from the production to sales. That is why he not only made huge investments in purchasing the first Chinese peach sorting line from Lumeng, but also established a set of facilities, including an organic fertilizer research and development center, and a nutritional fertilizer processing facility."
