I.G. International Pvt. Ltd. has signed a contract with Crown Orchard Company of Virginia, USA to import over 1,000 tonnes of Virginia apples over the next 52 weeks for their sale in India.
The contract was recently signed by I.G. International Director Tarun Arora and the owner of Crown Orchard, Henry Chiles, in the presence of Mr Terence Richard McAuliffe, Governor of Virginia, Ms. Dorothy McAuliffe, The First Lady of Virginia and Mr Todd Haymore, Virginia Secretary of Agriculture & Forestry.
Virginia apples are world renowned for their high quality and unique characteristics. Warm days, cool nights and a rich deep soil nurtured by consistent rainfall makes Virginia’s climate ideal for growing many apple varieties. Eleven major apple varieties are grown in Virginia and Virginia’s Red and Golden Delicious varieties are the all-time favourites.
Virginia’s apple harvest kicks off in July and goes on until early November. The bulk of Virginia apples are harvested in September, October and early November. Virginia Apples are currently exported to over 20 countries.
I.G. International has played an important role through its innovative and thoughtful campaign to introduce Virginia apples in the Indian market. “India has been a very important market for us and we are extremely pleased to expand sales for our 2015 crop,” said Henry Chiles, owner of Crown Orchard.
As part of the promotion, I.G. International also recently came up with a music video which is becoming viral on the social media. In partnership with Stemilt, I.G. International Pvt. Ltd. launched "The Apple Song" at Mumbai, coinciding with the arrival in India of Export Director Mr Dave Martin during the first week of December 2015. It is available on Facebook, Twitter and YouTube (http://https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h0hpMT-dCjU ), but the company is also planning to broadcast it with the leading DTH operators, and soon everyone will be able to view it on their television screens.
